UCSF CME: Obstetrics and Gynecology Update 2021

Overview:

New information on obstetric and gynecologic practice is being produced at a rapid rate. Leaders in the field, including those at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, take an evidence-based approach when formulating practice guidelines. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive update for the practitioner, placing emphasis on reviewing current evidence-based data and applying new practice guidelines. Impacts to practice as a result of COVID-19 will also be discussed.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Designed for practicing physicians, residents, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants seeking an update on a wide range of current issues in obstetrics and gynecology.

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  •  Apply best practices and evidence for reducing the first cesarean section;
  • List the steps in an evidence-based cesarean delivery;
  • Describe morbidly adherent placenta and other consequences of cesarean delivery and how to manage these complications;
  • Apply in practice the most recent guidelines for screening and management of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia;
  • Appropriately counsel patients about nutrition, vitamin and exercise for the prevention of osteoporosis, and the effects of marijuana and vaping on pregnancy;
  • Implement a transgender practice;
  • Discuss the recent Covid-19 pandemic, the virus’ effect on pregnancy, and potential protocols and practice changes to adapt for similar future crisis.
